The past couple of days I have
been thinking a lot about grace. This made me wonder what is it really about
grace that is so amazing. We are familiar with the song “Amazing grace” but do
we really understand the meaning thereof?
The definitions I found on grace
are as follow:
·
“courteous goodwill”
·
“bring
honour or credit to someone or something by someone’s attendance or participation”
·
“freely unmerited favour”
In this regard I am mostly
focused on the grace that are spoken about in the Holy Bible that the Christian
community speaks about as I am a firm believer in God Almighty. This does not
mean I would force my beliefs down to anybody as everyone has their own way of
acknowledging that there is a Higher power that has the complete control above
everything. This than brings me to the word grace, of who God is to me.
Gracious, good, honourable, freely given unmerited favour. This means I don’t
have to do anything to obtain this grace but it is freely available and one
should only be able to receive it through faith. All of us have a measure of faith regardless
of what we belief in. There are always that inch of hope for the better.
When I look back on my life I can
trace back on this amazing grace. Amazing because of the ways I lived, did not
add up to the grace I received so freely.
There are times in our lives when
we are walking on the paths that are simply not good for us emotionally,
spiritually, psychologically or physically. Circumstances we find ourselves in
that leads to life- changing break downs, destructions in relationships etc.
that are unhealthy to us as an individual that ultimately escalate to other
relationships. We don’t always realise this at first but somehow we will get to
the point where there is no way out. It is in those hopeless moments when we
can experience this amazing grace even though we might feel we don’t deserve it
at that particular time but it is usually those times where grace brings us out
of unfavourable situations.
Everyone deserve this grace and
we should also extend it those around us. It does not matter what situation you
might find yourself in right now, remember this amazing grace that are
available for you and me. We just need to take in a receiving heart posture
that are willing and open to receive this amazing grace.
Let us be a gracious hand to
someone today.
